Make your own foot scrub

It's sandal season!! Time to show off our lil piggies. LOL!! Time to give our feet a little special attention. On the average a pedicure in a salon will cost you about $40. I love getting pedicures but I don't love the cost. With 2 daughters who like to have pretty feet also, I need to be more resourceful because it can get pretty expensive. So in an effort to save some money I have researched how to make my own foot scrub at home! It's cheaper, greener and most of the ingredients are in your kitchen. Invite your friends over and make a big batch of scrub, open a bottle of chilled white wine, and give each other foot massages. To try this easy recipe, just follow the instructions below.  Remember have fun with it & be creative…

Ingredients
  • ½ cup granulated sugar or sea salt
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • A few drops of Essential Oil or fragrance oil - (You can find pure essential oils at your local whole food market, Experiment with different oils like Peppermint which will leave feet feeling cool and fresh or Lavender, Jasmine, Lemon which are soothing and fragrant. There are a wide variety of oils to try.)
  • Diva Tip - OPTIONAL: ½ mashed avocado for extra moisturizing.

Instructions
  • Combine ingredients in bowl.  You can use right away or you put it in an old jar with a lid and store in the fridge until you are ready.  It is best to use within a few weeks.
  • Soak feet in warm bowl or bath of water.  (You can add some salts if you want.)
  • Remove feet from water and pat dry.
  • Rub mixture onto feet, using a circular motion. You can use a loofah, sisal mitt, or simple hand towel for added friction.
  • Rinse with cool water, pat dry and moisturize. You can use lotion you have at home, or be adventurous and use a little of the left over olive oil.
  • Polish your toes with your favorite color and let dry completely.
  • Finish by slipping your feet into a nice pair of cotton socks to keep moisture locked in, as well as allow breath ability.

All done.... you made it from scratch and you saved some money!! Now that's Diva Good!

Make it a Great Day!
Embrace the Diva in You!
