Kickin Crab Cakes

There is one thing I love love and that is SEAFOOD! Any kind and most anyway. LOL! I have been toying around with a crab cake recipe and I think I have perfected it. With this recipe you can substitute salmon or tune for the crab meat. A very versatile recipe I must way and very tasty. Oh yeah It's got a lil kick, if you don't like spicy just minimize or omit the hot sauce.

Ingredients:
  • 1 lb fresh crab meat, cleaned and flaked or approx 16oz of canned crab meat

  • 1 can salad shrimp

  • ½ cup green pepper, finely chopped

  • 1/4 cup onion finely chopped

  • 1  large egg, beaten

  • 1 tsp spicy mustard

  • 1/2 tsp hot sauce

  • 3/4 cup plain dry bread crumbs, divided

  •  oil for frying

    Directions:

  • In a large bowl mix crab meat, shrimp, pepper, onion, egg, mustard, hot sauce and 1/2 cup bread crumbs.

  • Shape crab mixture into hamburger style parties, coat with remaining crumbs.

  • Prepare skillet with oil over medium heat.

  • Cook crab cakes 3 to 5 minutes on each side or until done and browned. Drain on paper towels.

  • Serve warm.


  • Serve with salad, bon appetit!
