Labor Day Strawberry Surprise

Labor Day is the last official holiday of the year and most people celebrate with a cookout, picnic or a potluck social. This is super delicious and a very easy dessert sure to please everyone! You can be as creative as you like by adding other fruits like bananas or blue berries. Also if you want to lighten this recipe up use fat free cream cheese, fat free whipped topping and sugar free glaze. There you have it a very versatile dessert!!! Enjoy!!

Ingredients

  • 1 (10 inch) angel food cake
  • 2 (8 ounce) packages cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup white sugar
  • 1 (8 ounce) container frozen whipped topping, thawed
  • 1 quart fresh strawberries, sliced
  • 1 (18 ounce) jar strawberry glaze

Directions

  1. Crumble half the cake into a punch bowl.
  2. Beat the cream cheese and sugar in a medium bowl until light and fluffy. Fold in whipped topping.
  3. In a bowl, combine strawberries and glaze until strawberries are evenly coated.
  4. Spread half the cream cheese mixture over the cake.
  5. Spread half strawberries over cream cheese layer.
  6. Repeat layers with remaining ingredients.
  7. Top layer garnish with strawberries and blue berries (optional)
  8. Chill until serving.
